I am a resident of High Halstow. I wish to make it absolutely clear that the parcels of land, both to the east and to the south of High Halstow, shown for possible development, are entirely unsuitable. The transport and environmental infrastructure cannot sustain further development beyond it's present level. The HiF money that has now been withdrawn makes any further development of the Hoo Peninsula a non-starter. As stated the environmental impact and well as the air quality would have a detrimental affect on the quality of life for all! Our fields are for growing food, not concreting over.

This is a vital document and must be publicised widely and as promptly as possible. The destruction of our greenspaces is a major concern for residents who already have very limited local access.

You need to stop using good agricultural land for building, and stop building out in the villages on the Hoo Peninsula where the road infrastructure just isn't there to support the number of cars. There's basically 1 road in and out and it isn't enough. Work needs to be completed on improving the number of roads, schools, dr. surgeries, etc, first before you build even more houses.

It is essential that the council does not change the land use designation of Chatham docks, in line with previous plans to ensure the businesses within Chatham docks can stay and the area can benefit from jobs and the local turnover of 250million pounds.

How will policies be sensitive to local communities, one size does not fit all across Medway. Local neighbourhood policy workshops should be encouraged as a means of engagement, citizens assembly’s like the one in Wandsworth on air quality. People aren’t engaging because they aren’t interested, it’s because they don’t believe their voices will be listened to. This has to be overcome creatively.

I take this with a total pinch of salt as proven by the plan to concrete the Capstone Valley. Words at this point mean nothing, actions do and so far the action has been to show an intent to pander to property developers interested in the biggest margin they can squeeze from the land footprint.

The whole consultation documents are lacking in detail, its unclear how firstly your vision and then the spatial strategy can coexist, a vision dealing with climate change protecting the countryside and coastline taking note of the estuaries as valued habitats enhancing its distinct character. Whilst your spatial strategy seeks to completely destroy the rural environment of the Hoo Peninsula, the loss of agricultural land, the destruction of its history heritage and landscapes.
This head long rush to urbanise rural communities to take away there distinctive identities contrary to NPPF 2023 chapter five and chapter 11 paragraph 120

all rural areas should be protected for the benefits they bring to the communities that live there. Our birds and bees, plants and butterflies are all impacted with every new development. Wildlife has been depleted in the UK and more needs to be done to halt this decline

How land is allocated can be extremely upsetting for local communities if quality of life is downgraded by overdevelopment or housing placed to destroy valued views. New housing developments feel soulless and not integrated leaving people isolated. Housing should not be approved on all grades of agricultural land which should be used to feed the population.

Far more land requires protection for environmental and agricultural reasons than the current exaggerated housing allocations allow for. If the current plans for developing Medway's precious green areas go ahead, Medway Council will have failed in its role as custodian of several irreplaceable national treasures.

It is imperative that Chatham Docks continues to be protected within the new Local Plan as a site protected for port-related development including industrial, business or storage and distribution development both as a designation on the Proposals Map and in Policies within the new Local Plan.
ArcelorMittal objects to Chatham Docks' designation as an urban regeneration site for housing development.

How land is allocated for development such as housing, employment and importantly for improved infrastructure, basic facilities such as doctors, dentists and schools. A new hospital is desperately needed, how will this be provided for. Also it should include where land is protected such as heritage designations and conservation areas and green buffers.

With the loss of the HIF and cancellation of the proposed train station on the Hoo Peninsula the infrastructure will never be in place or sufficient for the huge increase in population in the area that you propose. Even with some of the road improvements previously mentioned the road network would not cope with 40-50 thousand more private vehicles.
Deangate Country Park must be kept as a country park and not built over.
