Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2023)
Representation ID: 379

Respondent: Mr Nicholas Dowling
As of this weekend reports in the National media are picking up that Governmental support for the Lower Thames Crossing is waning. This could have enormous implications on road capacity and the general environment that the Local Plan is developed within. The progress of the LTC should be monitored as the plan progresses.

It is to be hoped that in the present financial climate, the LTC will not go ahead. The Local Plan should recognise this possibility. If it does go ahead the Local Plan should seek ways to actively mitigate its substantial environmental impact (which will be felt, especially in Strood, Frindsbury and Wainscott.

The Transportation Model and funding stream has to be applauded. The Transportation Consultant will support any such measures.

We should be firmly rejecting the LTC as we move away from high density road traffic based infrastructure.
