The apartment block developments along Pier Road over the last few years has greatly improved the area and provides many homes. However, if Chatham Docks was also developed for housing, there would just be continuous lines of apartment blocks all the way to St Mary's Island. This would just be taking this sort of development too far and will lose the distinctive heritage provided by the docks. Any plan for Medway needs to include diversity and Chatham Docks definitely provides this, especially if it is fully developed as a port and business park, specifically related to shipping activity.

Please could rooftops also be considered, if safe. A few rooftops for various uses would add alot of value to the area e.g. rooftop cinema clubs, rooftop gardens, rooftop restaurants/bars overlooking the castle etc.

Vacant units on the High Street could be repurposed, renovated and retrofitted to provide a more economic result for an already familiar part of the urban fabric.

This seems a reasonably sensible idea but we need to make our towns more inviting for businesses and more independents like Whitstable

Working from home based on my research (traffic counts) suggests car travel trip rates are 40% below what it was pre pandemic. However TRICS have undertaken no research so far.

If retail units are empty for long-term periods, it would make sense to re-utilise these.

Agree - High Streets should have a focus on community, local economy and versatility. Retaining historic shop frontages, develop behind and above to incorporate mixed use developments including creative spaces, residential, office, shared work spaces and commercial.

High streets do need regenerating. if people can visit a health centre in a high street they are more likely to stay and so some shopping.
And High streets could be good starter homes.
Parking should be affordable to encourage people to visit.

Agree that some retail units and empty office space should be converted to housing.
