Existing developments on the edge of town should not become fully urbanised. The existing privacy of residences/gardens should be maintained (new developments should not overlook existing developments). New developments should be separated from existing developments by adequate distance and plant cover). Countryside appearances should be maintained. The destruction of trees and hedgerows should be avoided. Existing residences should not experience increased levels of noise, light, or environmental pollution. Existing cul de sacs should not become through roads. Existing through roads should not become rat runs. New developments should enhance public footpaths and provide improved access to the surrounding countryside.

We are strongly opposed to the plan to consider for possible housing development our local beauty spot, Darland Banks and the surrounding agriculture which is marked HW1 on the Medway Local Plan suburban expansion sites map.
Although this area is small in extent, the rolling nature of the landscape gives it the feel of deep countryside. It is a place where people can come to relax and enjoy the nature.
Any Development of this area for housing would destroy the natural beauty of the area and its value as a place of recreation for local residents and visitors.

Please consider the protection of our green spaces and rural areas. The Medway community needs access to countryside and green space for the benefit of mental and physical health. I am distressed to contemplate the destruction of our countryside and nature. Please, please do not allow our beautiful Capstone Valley to be desecrated. Our children and future generations should not suffer the loss of the countryside and the benefit of open rural areas.

The area around Hempstead is under particular threat from Maidstone Borough Council's plans to build a garden village at Lidsing. It would be grossly damaging to the quality of the lives of residents of Hempstead and to a lesser extent Wigmore if Medway Council approved more housebuilding in Capstone.
Loss of important green lungs to residents in surrounding areas and It is unclear how the road infrastructure is going to be developed to handle the huge increase in vehicle movements in the direction of Hempstead and Wigmore (via Bredhurst) and to Boxley and Maidstone.
