Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2023)

Representation ID: 769

Received: 27/10/2023

Respondent: Mrs Amanda Barnes

Representation Summary:

How will roads cope, how can roads be improved to access Junction4? Roads cannot be widened without significant impact. This has been investigated through other developments and has always been the problem to expansion (e.g HVSC). Roads around Capstone/Hempstead are rural in nature any widening will create a significant negative impact on the character of the area. The expansion of these areas for housing cannot be achieved without better roads, but better roads cannot be achieved without disastrous impacts. Maidstone acknowledged this with proposed 'new arm' of Junction4 through the AONB and associated significant negative impacts on wildlife/character etc.

Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2023)

Representation ID: 790

Respondent: AC Goatham & Son

Agent: Bloomfields Ltd

Representation Summary:

Paragraph 5.34 Development come forward in these edge of settlement locations, there will be an acknowledged shortfall for existing services, such as schools and health services to cater for the increased population. The site at Bloors Farm provides a clear opportunity to deliver a large development which would be able to meet some service requirements for future residents as part of a mixed-use scheme.
If the site is utilised in conjunction with other suburban extension sites, for example Pump Farm, it could deliver a strategic development which has the potential to deliver a larger strategic outcome for service delivery.

Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2023)

Representation ID: 1497

Received: 31/10/2023

Respondent: Richborough

Agent: Pinnacle Planning

Representation Summary:

Richborough notes that there are concerns over the availability of amenities and services in existing towns and neighbourhoods in the southern and eastern suburban areas. It should be ensured that any emerging residential allocation can appropriately and viably mitigate for additional pressures on existing services, such as schools and doctors. The cost of providing new schools and doctors services is likely to require financial contributions from a significant number of residential developments; Richborough is of the view that the ability of the unconstrained land in the suburban area to generate sufficient funds for these required amenities should be assessed.
