The SGO 3 is the preferred option with the provision that development includes services such as GP, Schools, Nurseries, shops and significant road infrastructure development.

Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2024)

Representation ID: 4077

Received: 08/09/2024

Respondent: Mr Lewis Marshall

Representation Summary:

I think that to most living in Medway SGO1 would still appear to be a blended strategy, given that greenfield sites (e.g. north of Hoo, south of Capstone Park, east of Mierscourt Road) are included in consideration for development. For people to live near employment opportunities and access good public transport choices, the majority of development must be in the urban area.

Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2024)

Representation ID: 4113

Received: 08/09/2024

Respondent: Mr Lincoln Ritchie

Representation Summary:

I support the blended regeneration strategy. Prioritising brownfield sites first is key to protecting green spaces like those on the peninsula while enabling growth. However, I would like to emphasise my desire to lean more towards an urban focus as, to me, that seems to be the most efficient use of space, enabling accessibility and support for those who rely on public transport. I also feel that it would better support the development of affordable housing for younger people and families who are dependent on transport and access to areas such as London and towns surrounding Medway.

Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2024)

Representation ID: 4140

Received: 08/09/2024

Respondent: Miss Sarah Pettit

Representation Summary:

Areas of Lordswood, Hempstead and lidsing must be protected and remain predominantly rural, especially if the unwanted development by KCC goes ahead, further development in this locality by Medway will destroy the area and will simply become a gridlocked conurbation. I choose not to live in a city hence buying in Lordswood.

Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2024)

Representation ID: 4153

Received: 08/09/2024

Respondent: Bredhurst Parish Council

Representation Summary:

Bredhurst Parish Council strongly objects to the preferred option SGO3 Blended Strategy, especially the proposed developments along the Capstone Valley which will adversely impact Bredhurst Village. This area which is predominantly farmland is described as the ‘best and most versatile’ land and therefore should not be built upon. These developments will not only urbanise the local countryside it will remove the important strategic gap between Medway and Maidstone. The increase in traffic will have a detrimental effect on the current local road network and through Bredhurst Village which is already used as a 'rat run' to both Maidstone and Rainham.

Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2024)

Representation ID: 4158

Received: 08/09/2024

Respondent: Mrs Gesche McGibbon

Representation Summary:

The third preferred sustainable growth option provides a sensible solution for growth. I am against the green belt option 2 placing more development in North and East Rainham as it would increase already existing unsustainable traffic congestion along the A2 and lower Rainham Rd. Further development along lower Rainham Rd would also severely impact the existing rural character between the railway line and river with substantial loss of valuable orchards.
