I would like to nominate the green spaces in Kenilworth gardens and Kenilworth Drive for local greenspace designation. I have lived here for 22 years and in that time both spaces have been used for the health and wellbeing of the local community. They are used every day by people walking their dogs and children playing. Not to mention the many different animals that call them home. Including squirrels, foxes, insects, birds, bats and even a stag beetle witnessed by a neighbour. They are an important part of our community and we want to keep them as they are.

I would like to nominate Kenilworth Gardens (ME8 9ED/ME8 9DU) as a local green space (LGS), so it would be a protected open green space which if any proposals for development are made would result in the loss of publicly accessible open space. It is an amenity greenspace and also a semi natural space, with stag beetles, bats, butterflies, bees and birds using this as their habitat.

I would like to nominate Kenilworth Gardens (MED 9ED/ME8 9DU) and similar land in Kenilworth Drive (land west of 89 Kenilworth Drive) as a local greenspace.
This land is important for physical and mental health wellbeing. It is also important for wildlife that is regularly seen, including birds, butterflies, stag beetles and bats.

The playing pitch strategy is considored now to be unsound. I raised this at the Reg 18, along with the fact the iSports Facility Strategy and Action Plan (SFS) (2017), is also considored unsound.
We did advise that these strategies need to be redone inorder for the Local Plan to have a sound evidence base

Among your plans, you seem keen to consider development between Hempstead, Lordswood, and abutting Maidstone's border. To build on the last remaining green space in this part of Medway (which everyone can access) seems to be out of kilter with this thinking.

Students at Medway welcome this policy of greenspace only being developed if in respect of sport and recreation provision. However, we recommend that these provisions offer free activity to ensure that local play and activity spaces remain accessible to all.

Existing open spaces and playing fields should not be developed as these areas are vital for community. New sites should be considered after consulting with locals.

The St. John Fisher Site (Maidstone Road Campus) is currently allocated as open space within the existing Local Plan. The Playing Pitches of the site has been reprovided as part of the schools redevelopment (City Way). Therefore, this allocation should be removed.

The LA needs to provide at least 1000 extra allotment plots in order to meet the minimum requirement as set out by the National Allotment Society. This should be a priority, not overpriced matchbox houses and brown envelopes from farmers and London boroughs.

Whilst we applaud the provision of open spaces for the promotion of healthy living, the serious need for doctors and healthcare services - not only on the Peninsula but in Medway as a whole - should be planned before housing development starts thus avoiding what is happening now in Hoo.

There should be no loss of open space, that's why most are against this. More houses equals less open space

All existing recreation grounds with football pitches should have there periphery returned to wildflower meadows to cut down the amount of ground wasted on "green desert" and cut down on wasted mowing costs.

Existing open spaces and playing should be protect and where possible enhanced.
With health and recreation as one of the most important issues to improve public health ,
Facilities must be preserved and improved to move people to a healthier life style.
If its not there it cannot be used.

Building on green open spaces, especially in today's climate crisis, is irresponsible. It’s contradictory to claim commitment to net-zero targets or environmental care while actively seeking to eliminate vital green areas. These spaces play a crucial role in carbon sequestration, biodiversity, and community wellbeing. Their destruction undermines efforts to combat climate change and diminishes the quality of life. True environmental stewardship involves protecting and enhancing green spaces, not sacrificing them for short-term development goals.

The proposed over-development of residential accommodation in the Capstone Valley appears out of kilter with paragraph 10.3.3 above and the statement below that "Proposals for development that would result in the loss of publicly accessible open spaces provided as part of a planning permission for development will be refused." Open space once built on can be considered as lost forever and irreplaceable.
