Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2024)

Representation ID: 2085

Received: 29/08/2024

Respondent: Daren Halfpenny

Representation Summary:

This is a total word-salad that addresses none of the issues specific to this community! NO mention of a new hospital. NO specific mention of any new infrastructure and where it is to be located, NO specific details of the needs or wants other than to SAY what you intend to do with no indication of HOW it's going to happen!!! Lidsing in Maidstone are also throwing an extra 2,000 homes on our doorstep with no extra infrastructure going towards looking after ~6,000 new inhabitants there - MEDWAY IS TAKING THE BRUNT OF CATERING FOR THEM TOO!!

Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2024)

Representation ID: 2273

Received: 04/09/2024

Respondent: Southern Water

Representation Summary:

Southern Water may have to provide additional water or wastewater infrastructure to serve new and existing customers or meet stricter environmental standards. It is likely that there would be limited options with regard to location, as the infrastructure would need to connect into existing networks. We therefore request that the following wording is added to this policy:

New and improved utility infrastructure will be encouraged and supported in order to meet the identified needs of the community subject to other policies in the plan.

Representation ID: 3039

Received: 06/09/2024

Respondent: Mrs Helen Selleck

Representation Summary:

You can build as many nhs facilities or schools but already it is proven it is difficult/impossible to employ the staff. Teachers and doctors do not want to work/travel away from towns on inadequate roads. It takes up too much time and money and adds too many hours to a long day.

Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2024)

Representation ID: 3474

Received: 08/09/2024

Respondent: ArcelorMittal Kent Wire Limited

Agent: Lucy McDonnell

Representation Summary:

The draft Local Plan fails to protect infrastructure assets at Chatham Docks as the proposed residential redevelopment will lead to the loss of a non-tidal dock, a key and unique infrastructure asset. Further, there is no consideration of the loss of the ArcelorMittal Kent Wire facility as a result of the proposed redevelopment of their site, and the impact that will have on region wide infrastructure projects where the steel products required are no longer produced locally and may be less available, need to travel long distances, and be at greater cost.

Are different needs for different areas of Medway.
Transport infrastructure is one on the biggest debates going on since the failure of ZHIF bid.
It must has intensive interaction with local residents to get the right infrastructure for that part of Medway.
Infrastructure is one of the chief topic on the agenda and we must get it right first time.
A sustainable transport infrastructure is the key to everything that comes with a new local plan.

Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2024)

Representation ID: 3837

Received: 08/09/2024

Respondent: Mrs Sue Bassett

Representation Summary:

Road infrastructure is in a poor state. The standard of existing roads is appalling. Congestion is serious during peak times and increasingly at other times during the day. How will the new developments feed into these congested areas? What is the role of the council in improving infrastructure from the new developments? There looks to be a significant "get out" for developers not to build the necessary infrastructure.

Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2024)

Representation ID: 4041

Received: 08/09/2024

Respondent: Miss Rachael Selleck

Representation Summary:

You want to take away our green spaces to build more houses we don’t need. Instead, you should be investing in infrastructure and genuinely consulting with every village and local community. Ask the people what they truly need and want, rather than making decisions that often lead to problems. Medway Council’s past approach of acting without proper consultation has resulted in repeated mistakes. It’s time for Medway Council to listen to the residents and address their actual needs, rather than pursuing plans that only serve to create further issues.
