When considering raising existing sea defences consider that the earth works are critical wildlife sanctuaries for pollinators as they have been pesticide free for decades. The building up of such defences will displace these valuable pollinators, so consideration is needed to create habitat alongside for the pollinators to use whilst the improvements are being made. Otherwise we are at risk of losing these valuables insects. I beewalk the sea defenses alongside Motney Mill, which host many pollinators.

Could you explain in detail how the plan mitigates rising sea-levels?
Lots of greenery helps to lower temperatures so maintained mass planting is essential.
How do we protect our food growing areas?
Marsh areas can also absorb and slow the influx of water meaning we need to allow buffer zones between housing and waterfront.
Garages underground and at ground floor level may also protect housing and business.

The Plan proposes large areas of high quality arable farm land currently used for food production (eg Hoo Penninsula and land West of Strood) to be utilised to meet new housing targets. I believe this will actually make the future of Medway less resilient in the context of para 1.2.5 by adding more pollution, contributing to increased temperatures and reducing our self sufficiency on food production
