Infrastructure before inviting new business ventures, poorly kept roads make Medway look unloved or cared for, thus discourage new business.
High speed broadband on business estates is a must again before new business, not build and they will come.

Invest in our High Streets to make them more attractive to business, create incentive's to attract new business, in turn creating new job opportunities for local people.

Boosting the economy is a priority in my view. The encouragement of business which will generate taxes and alsop jobs will encourage people to spend in the local economy. However, the poor roads network through the towns and in particular the Medway City Estate could discourage this. Infrastructure improvements are vital.

As a SE england economy, most of Medway's economy (arts and culture excepted) makes little strategic sense now, and will make even less sense if Chatham and Gillingham's regeneration is a success. The Medway city estate prevents Medway's economy, environment and society from becoming much stronger, cleaner and wealthier (greater productivity per capita). Medway's universities have potential but are very weak in science and engineering, so organic growth in related economic activity is unlikely to materialise. Improvement here, and a concerted effort to support the research/development sector would be transformational to Medways GDP.
Medway's economy has been hamstrung through the loss of the dockyard and more recently the attempt to compete in low value economic activity.

I believe in old fashioned trades being encouraged. I know we live in a world of technology but the basic skills needed to build new homes is being lost There is a vast amount of land in Chatham riverside that could used for young people to be trained in these skills.

Regarding education, currently all the Grammar schools are on the east side of the River Medway, which means that if a child wishes to attend a Grammar school, they will have a long bus journey (unreliable if they have to use the Public buses) or need parents taht have the financial budgets to get them to the school by car. To improve education outcomes for some of the lowest families, consideration needs to be given to relocating one of the Grammar schools to the west side of the river Medway

Great words but you need a defined strategy with timeframe and real objectives to achieve any of this.
First you need to empower people, especially the young to have pride in where they live and hope of a future!
This starts in schools with a key topic of citizenship and discuss what that means in terms of personal responsibility, social responsibilities and the governing structures!
Also basic rule of law, we live in a time 2024 where many think they can do whatever they want so long as not being caught
Therefore basic right and wrong needs be part of values by educators along with health and care aspects

The points made below are good but essentially new families don't want to settle in areas that look & feel dirty and run-down, roads full of potholes and without playgrounds for children. This is a problem in many areas across Medway.

There are very few jobs in Allhallows that are not seasonal. More decent jobs with prospects should be created throughout Medway. There are far too many minimum wage and zero hour contracts which are soul destroying to workers. Of course these workers will not have the money to buy any of the houses proposed! The average wage in this area is around £25k not enough for the housing market!

States here that the council will build on existing strengths, expertise & raise the profile of land based industries. This cannot be achieved with the dispersed and blended options as these involve building on agricultural land thereby maximising loss of land based industries. The urban option would minimise this.

Medway has failed to take full advantage of it positioning close to London and the continent. This is despite the presence of great Grammar Schools. There are 30K NEETS in Medway which should be the Council's focus. To much focus on public sector is a huge red flag to business who might consider relocating to Medway.
Above all businesses need a willing and educated workforce in order to obtain investment funding.

Securing jobs don't make me laugh Chatham docks are threatened with closure where there are good jobs going.The council can't deliver high speed broadband only private companies can : again are you going to dragoon these into building broadband networks.
From what I understand the universities are losing students as it is proving too expensive for the result. As for tourism it's only Rochester that is a main attraction and the historic Dockyard plus Rochester castleand cathedral. Can't think of any more. P
