I support the strategy to use existing brown field, bringing used or older houses back into use. Refitting unwanted office building etc. We have a need for social housing for our own residents at a reasonable cost.
Health wise, try shutting a few of the vast amount of fast food outlets!

The borough has far too many takeaway outlets. Apart from dead-end jobs, the vast quantities of litter make it look ugly and not worth taking care of.
Children should be taught in schools from a young age against littering and graffiti. A lot of adults need it too.
I recently visited a park in Canterbury where a class of children were litter picking.

Infrastructure is key to Medway's growth, good quality roads are a must. It's no good build business estates and new homes without the basic of things in place first. ( road access, gp's dentist's water etc).
Better hospital facilities.
Better , cheaper more reliable local transport to reduced the need to use the car, for example taking children to school, perhaps invest in school buses, reducing the need for parents to drive them to school?

Improving the housing stock will not be transformational without other bottlenecks being addressed. We need massive, ambitious, strategic change in the Medway towns. Focusing on housing is very short sighted.
The lack of pride stems from the loss of the dockyard. Houses won't address that. Nor will better housing in Chatham waterfront make Luton a safe place to bring up a family.
Pride stems from each Medway resident feeling valued, due to the set of opportunities available to them. Predominantly this is caused by a stronger, higher productivity economy and better education. Drastic economic change is what is needed.

Greener construction will come via the Building regulations, as developers are being forced into air source heat pumps,

Gillingham High Street area appears very deprived. A lot of rubbish, graffitti and the closure of so many shops. The High Street is too long/large for the number of commericial units available. Re-classifying some units for alternative purposes would help to reduce the abandoned/neglected image.

How is dumping more people in deprived areas going to help. With no effective public transport, activities or facilities in many rural areas young people will become disillusioned and create issues with anti social behaviour which is already a huge issue in Hoo

The infrastructure needed for all the new development planned and the extra people coming from outside the area is desperately needed before all this happens. No plan for a new hospital which will take years to build.

We cannot get a bus home after 6pm to where we live in Hempstead as the service stops at that time. My granddaughter can be waiting for a bus home from school and can be waiting over an hour or more. Public transport !!!!

Quality and resilient development can only take place on a solid foundation. Sadly, the existing infrastructure lags way behind the CURRENT needs of existing development. Recent housing developments have been built before the existing infrastructure has been brought up to date - we are continually allowing development whilst playing "infrastructure catch-up" which is not good planning.

Electricity/gas/sewage/roads/schools/public transport/doctors/dentists/emergency services are all and have been severely lacking for many years! Building even more houses in Allhallows will totally destroy the rural environment and residents physical/mental health. Building on a single track lane will cause congestion, the road is already breaking up from the development of 9 houses (2 still empty). Our hedge was damaged by the Lorries for that, replaced by a fence that was also damaged. Not to mention the destruction of wildlife badgers foxes birds of prey and other birds greater crested newts, eels snakes hawk months hares people get pleasure seeing this.

Given the significance of the port and its unique features as a non-tidal dock within Medway and the South-East, we consider there must continue to be a policy within the Local Plan which specifically supports the docks and its uses. I think I agree that Good quality infrastructure and services must be in place before
any building or development goes ahead to have the least impact on local communties.
All brownfield and urban sites must be exhausted before we even look at building on any greenfield or green belt land.
I am all for green energy technology and efficient building construction.
But it comes to building the right type for house in the area and quality not quantity .

Adding more houses to my village will not support it but will negatively impact it. The plan promises to ensure development is backed by timely, high-quality infrastructure to serve Medway's growing communities, yet this approach contradicts that goal. The development plans destroy Medway's green spaces and undermine the promise of sustainable growth, conserving the environment, and enhancing economic, social, and environmental characteristics. Instead of making me proud to live in Medway, these plans make me feel disillusioned and driven to leave. I am not proud of Medway or its council’s current direction.

I am a proud Medway resident, it is a great place to live, to fully develop sustainabilty in the area and increase pride is to invest in the residents by thinking about buses such as in Manchester, to keep the green lung and lead in Net Zero and sustainablity, perhaps make sustainability at the heart of the plan, make the future of Medway green and adopting the UN SDGs

I would like to know what these travel choices are. No doubt the bicycle. If Medway intends to infest the towns with cycle lanes then please ensure cyclists are trained, tested, plated and insured. Ditto scooters, or finally enforce the law and get them off the pavements. And roads. The infrastructure in terms of bus transport is poor, rail is good. Improve the bus services. In Rochester we are not seeing much sustainable development, we are seeing ugly highrise blocks spring up to the detriment of the conservation areas and historic nature of the city.
