by building in rural areas you increase pollution and air quality. Cycling lanes are not sutable for rural roads or the A228. you cannot promote food production if you build on grade A farmland.

It seems you are using this as an excuse to prioritise house building over infrastructure development. People won't autmatically find local jobs, they will still need to commute. I would also like to ask what plans are there to revisit the train station at Sharnel Street? I saw this as a positive move towards reducing traffic, allowing commuters to use local train services.

Chatham Docks, by virtue of its location on a non-tidal dock, is able to use water-based transport. Were the site to be redeveloped for residential led development in accordance with the draft Local Plan, the new occupiers would not make use of that water-based transport. AMKW have sought to identify alternative sites but have concluded they would likely need to relocate outside the UK. This would have both carbon consequences, as materials would need to be transported longer distances, and likely with more reliance on road-based transport.

In the last 10 years, properties at the bottom end of North Dane Way into Luton have flooded on at least 2 occasions. Building thousands more houses along this area will only increase the likelihood of further flooding.

As previously mentioned the levels of poor air quality and pollution will increase with the increase in population and CO emissions from increased traffic and congestion.
No matter how well you believe this plan has been "dressed up" to address this issue the statistics and evidence that you have chosen to ignore shows that increase in development causes greater air pollution.
The best plan would be to not build on already diverse and natural areas.
Marsh areas are only being offered a level of protection because it is not viable to develop it, if you could you would.

Much of this policy is about limiting freedoms to satisfy the doctrine of Net Zero which will greatly increase the cost of heating home through indirect subsidy ad the need to use vastly more expensive heat pumps. We can not generate the electricity required to become net zero and invest in wind and solar will require back-up from gas and nuclear.
Money being spent on net zero should be transferred to building in resilience so that drains can cope with extra rain for example. But much of this is about maintenance of existing infrastructure which is too infrequently.

I prefer Option One SG01 - Urban Focus
Development should be focused on Brownfield sites.
Development should be near existing roads, schools, medical centres etc.
Farmland should be protected, not destroyed.
The importance of the Hoo Peninsula needs to be recognised; none of the Council's three options appears to consider this at all.
The peninsula needs the correct volume of affordable housing for local people; not vast numbers of large houses for families to move into from elsewhere.

Afraid most of the aims laudable as they are will not be realised particularly for walking and cycling most of the rural roads are little more than cart tracks.Just how are you going to manage water resources what efficiency measures rationing people to a couple of buckets a day don't talk wet(no pun intended).

Medway’s claim that its new Local Plan prioritises the environment is misleading. The plan’s goal of achieving net zero carbon by 2050 is undermined by the proposed development in Allhallows, which would drastically increase car use and harm the environment. With insufficient public transport options, residents will be reliant on cars, contradicting the government's aim to reduce road traffic by 2050. Furthermore, building on a floodplain in my village is irresponsible, given the worsening environmental conditions each year. It’s absurd that such plans are moving forward despite their negative impact on both the environment and climate goals.

I am concerned about keeping the countryside as unspoilt as possible. It is so important to have the AONB surrounding Cuxton as a green unspoilt place for people to enjoy. It is vitally important for our mental health to have views to enjoy and countryside to walk in. The bird, insect and wildlife populations are critically important to human health and wellbeing. Dark skies and absence of light pollution are also of vital importance and in danger of being lost forever. The rural areas of Medway mustn’t be forgotten, and they mustn’t be nibbled away bit by bit.

Build on the places that are already concrete and ugly. Kindly provide evidence for the climate emergency in Medway, I have noticed nothing which suggests there is no emergency. I can see the push for 15 minute cities - 'reducing the need for travel and designing for walking & cycling'. Sounds great in theory but in practice does this mean you will remove carriageways for cycle lanes? And introduce a carbon tax for those who dare to use their petrol cars? Urban drainage needs improvement, too much water runoff from newly developed concrete buildings/roads. Where is the overheating??

Water treatment comment, food production, transport links and pricing and what does this - Provision of decentralised energy and heating mean?
Planning for better links to other areas within Medway is great on paper however the cost of these services will not make these a viable option for most. School bus prices are a prime example of this. How are you going to support local people to access these public transport over the use of their cars.

You have prioritised promoting local food production however large pieces of arable land across Medway are being approved for planning of more housing, how can you do both of these things?
Managing water resources are also highlighted, currently we are having to reuse our water, causing high levels of chlorine which is now part of our drinking water. How will you prevent this becoming more evident?
