Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2024)
Vision for Medway in 2041
Representation ID: 2242
Received: 03/09/2024
Respondent: Mr Paul Stephens
Vision for Medway is fine but you must ensure that local resources are available to local people, no good just building houses that only people in London or overseas investors purchase as part of their portfolio. Also the infrastructure needs to be there to support the ever aging population. therefore it must be policed to ensure the contractors do what they say they will do not just let them get on with it!

This really means a radical shake up of our road infrastructure to ensure it has shared space for all forms of clean transport so it is safe to use for all and this again needs to be policed to ensure is maintained each day. Clear pathways, good serviced footpaths and cycle ways, also cars will be needed for those that can't use public transport. Public transport needs to be frequent, clean and affordable.

Don't speak to the same people all the time.
Ensure the digital excluded are included in all plans
Use new and up and coming tech to assist people to live the best life they can
Don't assume
Don't tell but empower
Those who have been forgotten and ignored need to be heard. So effective lines of communication are needed which means don't hide behind technology and expect everyone to be connected to the grid (internet). assist people who have not got the resources to connect to the grid and support them but don't alienate those that have no technology or ability/desirer to use it! ensure there are access hubs close to peoples homes.
Start a strategy to use technology to dynamically monitor people who have long term/life long conditions that puts them in danger of requiring clinical assistance, help them to help themselves in that process don't tell assist!

Securing jobs and developing skills for a competitive economy

Create pride in place
Empower
Encourage
Educate
Great words but you need a defined strategy with timeframe and real objectives to achieve any of this.
First you need to empower people, especially the young to have pride in where they live and hope of a future!
This starts in schools with a key topic of citizenship and discuss what that means in terms of personal responsibility, social responsibilities and the governing structures!
Also basic rule of law, we live in a time 2024 where many think they can do whatever they want so long as not being caught
Therefore basic right and wrong needs be part of values by educators along with health and care aspects
