Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2024)

3.2.1

Representation ID: 2265

Received: 04/09/2024

Respondent: Mrs Beverley Taylor

Representation Summary:

Respect please our countryside and green spaces. Living in Hempstead with the Lidsing possible proposal being granted we will loose most of these spaces with both the dispersed growth and blended strategy. Therefore I am supporting the urban focus only.

Full text:

For me living in Hempstead in order to maintain the village ‘feel’ the only suitable option is the Urban Focus. With the threat of Lidsing being thrust upon us from Maidstone Borough Council, plus numerous suggested additional building around Capstone, Lordswood etc, our green fields and open spaces will disappear and we will become part of another new urban sprawl. Although we are fighting the Lidsing build, this has not been taken into account at all for the people of Hempstead when looking at Medway Local Plan. We will be suffocated from all sides if this goes ahead and therefore I am favouring the Urban Focus which minimises the building in this area. It is much better to use brownfield sites in my mind as much as possible, with better use of transport systems and less use of cars.
