Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2024)

3.2.1

Representation ID: 2522

Received: 05/09/2024

Respondent: Mr Jamie IRONMONGER

Representation Summary:

I understand that developments are inevitable, but a project of this magnitude, given the current scale of our village, seems poorly considered and like a hasty response to Medway Council's housing demands. The essence of Allhallows lies in its character as a village, which is crucial to its identity.

Full text:

I am deeply concerned about the proposal to build a major development in Allhallows. The village already struggles with limited services and infrastructure. The statement on the Catesby website claiming that Allhallows has a wide range of facilities and services is misleading.
It’s clear that developments are inevitable in Medway, but this particular project would significantly alter the character of Allhallows. Given the scale of the development relative to the size of the village, it would transform Allhallows beyond recognition.
Additionally, this development would further harm local wildlife, which is already under significant pressure from ongoing projects throughout the peninsula.
Finally, I want to mention how challenging it has been to submit these comments. The process seems unnecessarily complicated, and I worry that many less computer-savvy residents will find it nearly impossible to provide their input. Perhaps this is intentional?
Thank you for taking the time to read my concerns.
Many thanks.
Jamie.
