Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2024)
Vision for Medway in 2041
Representation ID: 3134
Received: 07/09/2024
Respondent: Miss Jackie Forrest
The plan is not sustainable, current infrastructure doesn't support the growth and current population without increasing it further. With no respect for the wider rural communities and ecology.

Not achievable and lack of people's need especially in rural communities who rely on their own private transport for independence with local roads and infrastructure lacking.

Again why are you reducing the need for people to use their cars and travel? Are you wanting to go back in time, when people didn't venture outside of their community? People need to be independent with their own private vehicles. With options for other means of transport if they wish, not what you impose.

The three spatial growth options are misleading, descriptions in
consultation leaflet dont match diagrams. Option1 described as an urbanfocus, but proposes housing on ruralland on hoo peninsula. Option 2/3, like Option1, focuses
housing growth on ruralland in hoo peninsula
. None are sustainable options for the parishes. All three options would cause severe economic harm to the hoo peninsula and would create severe environmental damage.
Option3 allocates housing sites to accommodate over 40% of Medway’s
requirement in rural part of hoo peninsula where infrastructure is poor, contrary to NPPF policies on growth,
site selection, natural environment, food production, infrastructure

Dont build in rural areas as in option 2/3. This would have irreversible damage caused to the local eco systems and animals etc

Dont build is the only option to save our sites of international importance and local ecology and environment and wildlife and fauna. Rural communities should be kept rural not developed.

The whole of the hoo peninsula and wider areas need to be protected before loss of habitation and ecology are lost to developments.
