Vision for Medway in 2041

Representation ID: 3346

Received: 07/09/2024

Respondent: Mr David Weatherley

Representation Summary:

Forcing a reduction in car usage is not the solution. People do not work in their local area - they commute. It seems you are justifying your ignorance of the infrastructure probem by stating their will be less car usage.

Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2024)

Spatial Development Strategy

Representation ID: 3373

Received: 07/09/2024

Respondent: Mr David Weatherley

Representation Summary:

I want to see councils prioritising infrastructure development before house building. In so many recent house building sites, the intrastructure such as medical centres, schools, transport upgrades are all pushed to the latter phases of the bulding project which means they are more likely to be scrapped due to funding issues. I want to see councils force house building companies to build infrastructure first.

Policy S1: Planning for Climate Change

Representation ID: 3374

Received: 07/09/2024

Respondent: Mr David Weatherley

Representation Summary:

It seems you are using this as an excuse to prioritise house building over infrastructure development. People won't autmatically find local jobs, they will still need to commute. I would also like to ask what plans are there to revisit the train station at Sharnel Street? I saw this as a positive move towards reducing traffic, allowing commuters to use local train services.

An earlier question I had is addressed here regariding the proposed station at Sharnal Street. This development needs to be prioritised above house building so that it is operational before the population of the Hoo peninsula grows more rapidly.
