Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2024)
Vision for Medway in 2041
Representation ID: 3405
Received: 08/09/2024
Respondent: Mrs Deborah Whybrow
Medway is a diverse land. The villages amongst the farmland, marshes and valued landscapes and habitats have a different QoL to the successful urban developments. Outside of Hoo it is impossible to meet all everyday needs without access to a car - and these villages accept this. We don’t have easy access to shops/organised leisure/takeaways/nightlife. We accept this and have natural open spaces, marshland and nature reserves to enjoy instead. We lack access to mains sewerage, fast broadband with frequent cuts in utilities. New development must have solar panels, fast broadband, mains sewerage and pavements for safe non car travel.

Sustainable and green future must include all new and repurposed buildings to be connected to mains sewerage, have solar electric panels and batteries, have connection to fast broadband.
For young local people to be able to rent or buy property where they grew up there needs to be a requirement of 1&2 bedroom properties in each development. Some apartments and some bungalows to meet needs of young and elderly residents and free up the current stock of under occupied 3/4/5 bedroom homes

Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2024)
Supporting people to lead healthy lives and strengthening our communities
Representation ID: 3407

High quality energy efficient homes on mains sewerage with solar panels and batteries, fast broadband, with a requirement for 1 and 2 bedroom homes, apartments and bungalows. All properties should be suitable for occupancy by people with disabilities and movement aids. Kitchens need to have space for a perch stool, and bathrooms need to have space to get in and out with a movement aid - to help enable those with physical disabilities the ability to cook for themselves, look after their own personal care and remain independent.

Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2024)
Spatial Development Strategy
Representation ID: 3410
Received: 08/09/2024
Respondent: Mrs Deborah Whybrow
Development across the Hoo peninsula will always increase car use on already busy single access routes due to lack of alternatives. Cliffe Woods/Cliffe have a single main access route. Hoo/chattenden/High Halstow/Allhallows/Stoke and Grain have a single main access route. If either is blocked for any reason thousands of people cannot move in or out.
HIF train station concept was abandoned. Upgrading 4 elms hill junctions was abandoned. Every autumn/winter 4 elms hill is partially closed for weeks due to inadequate sewerage system. There is no room for additional development across the Hoo Peninsula.
