Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2024)

Vision for Medway in 2041

Representation ID: 3531

Received: 08/09/2024

Respondent: Miss Alison Temple

Representation Summary:

No mention of protecting wildlife and consideration of mental health issues for people residents.
How will carbon emissions be reduced when you continue to build developments.
No statistics to prove carbon emissions will be reduced in fact there will be an increased number of deaths due to poor air quality and heavy congested traffic causing accidents.
The plan is to desi crate an area of nature and beauty that already has biodiversity and benefits to the air quality in order to improve air quality .....by destroying it, as usual plans to do not make sense.

Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2024)

Prepared for a sustainable and green future

Representation ID: 3537

Received: 08/09/2024

Respondent: Miss Alison Temple

Representation Summary:

This is an utter joke and the plan is full of holes. Yet again you are proposing to improve peoples lives by providing walking and cycling routes by desi crating the existing natural spaces. Doesn't stack up. People WANT natural places not specifically designed tarmac footways and cycle paths with a few token trees and grass planted.
What is the plan for protecting natural habitat and wildlife, No mention of the diverse wildlife that will be lost forever if this plan goes ahead.
As usual no consideration is given to the benefit of watching and observing wildlife on mental health.

Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2024)

Supporting people to lead healthy lives and strengthening our communities

Representation ID: 3544

Received: 08/09/2024

Respondent: Miss Alison Temple

Representation Summary:

This plan will create more inequalities.
Poor Air quality will increase the death rate, particularly for those who already suffer the consequences of poverty and poor health. Hopefully the death rate due to poor air quality will incur court action for the local government who will be held responsible.
As a health professional I take CO readings of pregnant women on a daily basis and I am informing them why their levels are high if they are non smokers due to the poor air quality in Medway, they are shocked and worried about the effect on their unborn baby.

Just hope you have a contingency for the increase in legal action taken by residents for the impact this plan will have on their mental health and well being due to increased deaths by poor air quality and accidents.

Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2024)

Policy S1: Planning for Climate Change

Representation ID: 3552

Received: 08/09/2024

Respondent: Miss Alison Temple

Representation Summary:

As previously mentioned the levels of poor air quality and pollution will increase with the increase in population and CO emissions from increased traffic and congestion.
No matter how well you believe this plan has been "dressed up" to address this issue the statistics and evidence that you have chosen to ignore shows that increase in development causes greater air pollution.
The best plan would be to not build on already diverse and natural areas.
Marsh areas are only being offered a level of protection because it is not viable to develop it, if you could you would.

Policy S2: Conservation and Enhancement of the Natural Environment

Representation ID: 3559

Received: 08/09/2024

Respondent: Miss Alison Temple

Representation Summary:

As already mentioned the plan shows absolutely no consideration for the natural environment. The best to do would be to leave the area to create and develop biodiversity natural as in other areas of the country. This plan destroys the natural environment and then proposes a feeble token gesture to try a restore it. You cannot enforce plans on nature you only destroy it. The plan goes against all the ecological evidence of increasing biodiversity and increasing the variety of wildlife species and vegetation. In fact there is no mention of doing this in the plan.

Policy S3: North Kent Estuary and Marshes designated sites

Representation ID: 3561

Received: 08/09/2024

Respondent: Miss Alison Temple

Representation Summary:

The plan only has a proposed policy for this because Medway local government know this area is not viable to develop, it is therefore a token gesture.

Policy S4: Landscape protection and enhancement

Representation ID: 3570

Received: 08/09/2024

Respondent: Miss Alison Temple

Representation Summary:

Again, the plan serves to organize these areas to suit the bigger proposals rather than encourage and enhance their natural development. This is a token gesture and does not serve the interest of the public or natural spaces.
The best plan would be to be sympathetic to nature and leave these areas to nature however I believe many know that the background agenda is self serving for developers and local government for financial gain and profit.

Policy S5: Securing Strong Green and Blue Infrastructure

Representation ID: 3577

Received: 08/09/2024

Respondent: Miss Alison Temple

Representation Summary:

I don't believe that this will be the objective of the plan or local government because so far nothing has been shown that is sympathetic to nature and wildlife spaces.
I believe this is simply paying "lip service" to address the concerns surrounding the natural environmental concerns.

Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2024)

Policy S6: Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty National Landscape

Representation ID: 3589

Received: 08/09/2024

Respondent: Miss Alison Temple

Representation Summary:

The plans to address the consequences of the development such as loss of species and increase in the number of people suffering health conditions and deaths. How many mature trees will be cut down to make way for buildings, only to replant small trees to replace them that take years to mature? t is well evidenced the contribution mature trees make to the environment and the impact the destruction of these vital species have had on the environment. Again this section is simply paying lip service rather than a sensitive acknowledgement and respect for natural and natural spaces in Medway.
