Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2024)
Vision for Medway in 2041
Representation ID: 3575

The building on brownfield sites makes perfect sense with the need for more accommodations. However building on any farmland/green spaces must be considered unnecessary. There is already health condition with pollution and this with greatly increase with traffic pollution. With climate change happing we are already seeing increased flood risk without additional farm land loss and concrete areas. The areas of lordswood and rainham being built in will certainly increase this risk putting more pressure on road and risking people's homes. Damage to the environment will not be repaired and makes Medway an in reading unpleasant area to live.

The properties being built will not be for medway residents and are being designed to advertise and appeal to those moving out of London. They are not affordable to local residents.
This is not for the benefit of medway residents and your vision will have detrimental life changing for current residents and future generations. We must stop any plans to build on green spaces.

Building more will increase population locally and will no be fit transport. This is only going to get worse with increase traffic coming to a standstill. There are already issue with traffic flow and more houses in lordswood and rainham will drastically increase this. Red routes have been put in place and to measure pollution but these are no effective measuring and planning for more goes again nts these ideas medway Council are currently in implementing.

Increase pollution is problematic with the local plan. More housing means more cars. This will have additional pressure with already being impossible to get gp appointments and a hospital that cannot cope. The demand is not fo those in medway but externally as medway residents cannot afford properties so this is a conflict with you plans.

Build on brown field sites yes, but stop destroying green spaces. You cannot link these areas if you continue to destroy them all.
