I support this policy and I am extremely pleased to see that development that would harm the effectiveness of existing flood defences or prejudice their maintenance or management will not be permitted - unless it can be suitably mitigated.

Although I support this policy, I cannot understand why no reference has been included regarding the role of Green Belt and National Landscape sites in improving Air Quality. And, in particular, no reference is made to crop spraying in these areas.

The following wording "Development has the potential to raise noise and light pollution to unacceptable levels, which can have significant adverse effects on health, quality of life, the natural environment and ecology. They also impact on areas of tranquillity. The Council has considered tranquillity through its Landscape Character Assessment. The Council recognises the contribution of tranquillity to conserving the qualities of the Kent Downs NL." should be added to this policy.
