Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2024)

Boost pride in Medway through quality and resilient development

Representation ID: 2039

Received: 20/08/2024

Respondent: Mrs Claire Baldwin

Representation Summary:

Gillingham High Street area appears very deprived. A lot of rubbish, graffitti and the closure of so many shops. The High Street is too long/large for the number of commericial units available. Re-classifying some units for alternative purposes would help to reduce the abandoned/neglected image.

Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2024)

Vision for Access and Movement in Medway

Representation ID: 2040

Received: 20/08/2024

Respondent: Mrs Claire Baldwin

Representation Summary:

The provision for cyclists is very minimal. There's no way I'd be allowing my children to cycle up Canterbury street on their way to school as it's too dangerous and crowded. Dedicated cycling lanes afford greater protection for the cyclist and the number of these should increase if at all possible.

Policy DM6: Sustainable Design and Construction

Representation ID: 2041

Received: 20/08/2024

Respondent: Mrs Claire Baldwin

Representation Summary:

Can developers be forced to construct buildings that have heat pumps and/or solar panels by default? We all know about the climate emergency, yet to build properties that don't take efficiency and green self-generated energy into account seems short-sighted.

Policy T2: Housing Mix

Representation ID: 2042

Received: 20/08/2024

Respondent: Mrs Claire Baldwin

Representation Summary:

We need a limit to the number of HMOs that can be present in any one street. Our small street has 3 children's homes and multiple HMOs, meaning the pressure for a parking space is huge, and quite often we have to park half a mile away from home. The children's homes are effectively businesses, with carers coming and going at all times. A good mix of use of the houses would ensure the pressures of HMO's are distributed more widely.
