Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2024)
Vision for Medway in 2041

If the river is so important why are you trying to close Chatham docks where there are high quality jobs as you outline as necessary in your plan . Surely not more houses WHERE'S are the HOSPITALS DOCTORS TEACHERS to service the rising population from the other areas. The NHS is falling to bits as it is. Medway maritime hospital cannot cope it has to serve a population of 500 000 as it . What you are suggesting is ludicrous. One more factor is the development planned by Maidstone borough Council just over the border which hospital is nearest .

Supporting people to lead healthy lives and strengthening our communities

MORE WAFFLE if you are serious then developers must provide social housing in spades. How are you going to persuade the elderly to down size if they own the property are you going to send in the jack boots in? As for the public realm the existing country parks are too far for many to walk to and you have just instituted car parking fees.As for the rest another load of WAFFLE 🧇

Securing jobs and developing skills for a competitive economy

Securing jobs don't make me laugh Chatham docks are threatened with closure where there are good jobs going. The council can't deliver high speed broadband only private companies can : again are you going to dragoon these into building broadband networks.
From what I understand the universities are losing students as it is proving too expensive for the result. As for tourism it's only Rochester that is a main attraction and the historic Dockyard plus Rochester castleand cathedral. Can't think of any more. P

How in God's name can you improve on walking when most of the greener areas have no more than narrow country lanes?
Further to that how are you going to improve & develop transport networks run a new bus company? How on earth are you going to protect the natural environment assets when you are going to concrete over it all? What you propose is a load of old waffle 🧇.

Surely the main thrust is to build social housing As for mentioning Travellers not so long ago a group of travellers were evicted from their site on Lower Rainham road for contravening planning regs. Most of the population of medway need to travel by car to use the country parks on top of that you have instituted car parking fees on the country parks that's a deterrent to start with. As for elderly down sizing if they own the property how can you move them dragoon them?

Well pretty soon there won't be Kent downs it will be a sprawl of houses right up to the downs. Another load of waffle What the hell is Chatham intra? On all the planning applications there will be unacceptable impacts on infrastructure and environments.

Afraid most of the aims laudable as they are will not be realised particularly for walking and cycling most of the rural roads are little more than cart tracks.Just how are you going to manage water resources what efficiency measures rationing people to a couple of buckets a day don't talk wet(no pun intended).
