Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2024)

Prepared for a sustainable and green future

Representation ID: 3430

Received: 08/09/2024

Respondent: Mrs Sue Harwood

Representation Summary:

Building all over the green fields around Capstone Country Park is not going to help the climate emergency. Greenfield sites should be saved. This area flows into the important National Landscape (formerly AONB) around Bredhurst and will adversely affect it as will increased footfall in this area and Capstone Park.

This will also adversely affect air quality. This was supposed to be a 'green lung' for this part of Medway not a concrete jungle with increased traffic.

Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2024)

Spatial Development Strategy

Representation ID: 3488

Received: 08/09/2024

Respondent: Mrs Sue Harwood

Representation Summary:

It is difficult to see how the green network can be supported when you are isolating Capstone Country Park by surrounding it with housing and development. This can hardly provide resilience for nature; it will destroy the natural habitat. This will also not improve mental health.

Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2024)

3.2.1

Representation ID: 3494

Received: 08/09/2024

Respondent: Mrs Sue Harwood

Representation Summary:

It is admirable that brownfield sites are included as it is important that these are repurposed to meet housing need. However, it is devastating to see that multiple greenfield sites surrounding Lordswood and Hempstead are being proposed. This will have an unacceptable impact on the natural environment, air quality and mental wellbeing of residents. If the North Dane Way is further extended to meet with the M2J4, it will have a huge impact on the residents who live along this road with additional noise and pollution. The road is likely to become an accident hotspot.
