Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2024)

Policy T3: Affordable Housing

Representation ID: 1823

Received: 18/07/2024

Respondent: Mr Martin Earle

Representation Summary:

The plan approach to affordable housing sounds encouraging, although the 30% for suburban greenfield sites, and 10% for lower value areas/brownfield seems upside down - i would have thought a greater amount of social rented accomodation is needed in lower value areas, where car ownership cannot be assumed, and local facilities are more accessible on foot/by public transport?

Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2024)

Policy S10: Economic Strategy

Representation ID: 1824

Received: 18/07/2024

Respondent: Mr Martin Earle

Representation Summary:

Seeking to retain as much employment land as possible seems to contradict the removal of Chatham Docks as an industrial site. The loss of those local jobs in order to build housing and possible regeneration zones would be many years down the line before completion. A resisdential/industrial mix use of any of the proposed sites (Docks and City Estate) sounds unrealistic and, based on the St Marys Island residents' complaints, a recipe for future problems.

Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2024)

Policy S17: Chatham Town Centre

Representation ID: 1825

Received: 18/07/2024

Respondent: Mr Martin Earle

Representation Summary:

There seems to be a lack of joined-up thinking with the parking in Chatham. Carparks are difficult to access, not well signposted and discourage visitors. The disjointed and hidden parking provision looses out against Hempstead Valley and Dockside.
