Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2024)
Supporting people to lead healthy lives and strengthening our communities
Representation ID: 2102
Received: 29/08/2024
Respondent: Mrs Fiona Beer
Medway council certainly need to look at what buildings are already empty and derelict as there are so many in the area. Not enough single story homes are available for the elderly who wish to downsize as so many bungalows are being either demolished or converted to larger houses. Most elderly people don't want to move into some sort of sheltered accommodation. Most developers do not build for the elderly anymore. You talk about high streets but I think they are a thing of the past.

Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2024)
Vision for Medway in 2041
Representation ID: 2103

Respondent: Mrs Fiona Beer
Medway's vision has to be the vision of the people that live in Medway so you have to listen to the our views. The building of all these houses without the infrastructure in place, it's not sustainable. With Maidstone on our doorstep, planning to build so many houses that will be using our resources, it will have a huge impact on Medway's road network, schools, hospitals, doctors and finances. You talk about our heritage, green spaces, riverside, farmland being there for everyone but there won't be much left when everything is being built on.

Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2024)
Boost pride in Medway through quality and resilient development

The infrastructure needed for all the new development planned and the extra people coming from outside the area is desperately needed before all this happens. No plan for a new hospital which will take years to build.

No plan for a new hospital which will take years to build. A better bus service is needed but the bus companies that service Medway are'nt committed to improve the service. We cannot get a bus home after 6pm to where we live in Hempstead as the service stops at that time. My granddaughter can be waiting for a bus home from school and can be waiting over an hour or more. Public transport !!!!

Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2024)
Spatial Development Strategy
Representation ID: 2157
Received: 02/09/2024

You mention the innovation centre which I thought the new council has put on hold as the cost of it was too expensive to complete. Also you talk about the train at Hoo but the £170 million funding has been pulled on that and to honest unless you have lived out on the Peninsula, you haven't got a clue about how things work. Everyone out there relies on their car as the bus service is one of the worst in Medway.

3.2.1
Representation ID: 2159

3.2 to be honest is about building anywhere you like. Hempstead will suffer dreadfully and we haven't got the roads to cope with the amount of housing being planned not only now but in your plan. Maidstone is on our doorstep and are planning to build on most of the fields available in lidsing. The roads are not and we're never meant for the traffic these housing will bring. You say about promoting sustainable travel, is there such a thing, if so, what is it. People will only use their cars, petrol or electric, it will never be anything else.
