Representation Summary:

Too much development is proposed for good productive agricultural land which is used for food production or animal husbandry. This includes that classified by the council as suburban as well as rural. By the way, I do not agree with the classification of suburban. Capstone and Rainham areas will only become suburban by the realisation of these developments. You state 40% of new housing is urban but 8500 is not 40% of 24,540 it is 34% so if you can't get the maths right what else that you are telling us is wrong?

Representation Summary:

This is not a draft plan. This plan is being foisted upon us. For years we have been told that the Capstone Valley would be protected as Medway's Green Lung. Within months of a new council being elected the whole of the valley is to be developed riding roughshod over all previous objections and the need to retain agricultural land.

Representation Summary:

The local presentations felt very much like a ‘tick box’ exercise i.e. this is MC’s way of satisfying their obligation to consult the public but there is no actual consulting going on. Those employees sent to answer questions couldn’t answer anything. There was much ‘I understand totally your point of view, and ‘I don’t have that information with me ’, alongside ‘that isn’t my department’. The council may have the evidence from assessments etc but they have disregarded anything that didn’t fit in with their preconceived plans. The maps were terrible with street names greyed out and the orientation unclear.

Representation Summary:

On asking why we have not had notification of any plans, even though we live at Gibraltar Farm, we were told that ‘oh it must be because the development is called Gibraltar Farm so assumed you knew’.
Is it any wonder that we don’t feel listened to. It doesn’t matter how many years local residents have been saying they don’t agree with plans for development , our views are totally disregarded. When MC have agreed with us , central government imposed their will. We have followed the democratic but a dictatorial approach by CG has quashed that democracy.

Representation Summary:

I don't believe the research for this plan has been thorough and unbiased. I believe has been strategic and made to fit a preconceived plan.
Maps provided are unclear with helpful information that could be used by the viewer to place themselves within the map greyed out. Policies and the written word associated with the maps were unclear and council staff sent to presentations to answer questions were unable or unwilling to answer questions. Policies attached to the council website are not written to be readily understood by the average reader.

I don't agree with the council summarising what they think are the main issues for the inspector. All comments should be available and read by the inspector. To be frank, I don't trust the council to include those comments they don't like or that don't support their plan.
