The Government’s Greybelt national guidance (NPPF & PPG) for existing Greenbelt is not a year old. The national policy has not been tested on a scale as set out in Medway’s Local Plan at sections 4.12 & 14.10.

The first four parcels, are the only parts of the Greenbelt to be named in the Local Plan, preferred sites for housing development, (Sections 3.1, 3.2, 3.3 & 3,4) all say that their development would not result in the merger of Strood & Gravesend, and thus suitable to be Greybelt. . The urban area of Strood would increase by nearly a third.
