Medway Local Plan (Regulation 19, 2025)

14.11.5

Representation ID: 4455

Received: 01/08/2025

Respondent: Mrs Patricia King

Legally compliant? No

Sound? No

Duty to co-operate? No

Representation Summary:

Destroying this prime agricultural land for housing is insane. The infrastructure to support this development is not in place. Roads, access to site, public transport, health services totally inadequate. None of this is fit for purpose for the current population. The reasons plans were rejected in 2021 still stand and the situation has become worse since as no significant improvements to the problems highlighted then have been made. Resolve existing problems rather than adding to them, particularly enlarging Medway Hospital to cope with the existing population in its catchment area.

Legally compliant? No

Duty to co-operate? No

Representation Summary:

I attended the presentation by the proposed developer and found their explanations of what they intend to do superficial at best. They showed no real understanding of the area and its existing problems. They could not demonstrate a clear explanation of how many developers would be involved and how many houses each developer would build or give a timescale. No thought seemed to be given to how transport would flow within the site once built, particularly around the two schools, nursery, medical centre and residential home areas. There assumption seemed to be that the majority of users would be pedestrians.

Representation Summary:

You will end up with 750 homes built piecemeal and with no continuity or cohesion to the site. The potential for disruption is magnified the more companies involved.

Policy SA10: Lower Rainham

Representation ID: 4458

Received: 01/08/2025

Respondent: Mrs Patricia King

Legally compliant? No

Sound? No

Duty to co-operate? No

Representation Summary:

Nothing meaningful has changed since the original plans for this site were rejected in 2021. None of the problems highlighted have been resolved. It was and still is the wrong place for a housing development. The land needs to be preserved as agricultural.
