Chapter 4 – Natural

Representation ID: 4677

Received: 09/08/2025

Respondent: Mrs Samantha Clarke

Legally compliant? No

Sound? No

Duty to co-operate? No

Representation Summary:

The area that the development is being considered on is currently green belt land. There is very little green belt land in our immediate vicinity and this area is used extensively for people walking and generally enjoying the countryside. It also acts as a barrier from the noise of the local traffic on the bypass

Received: 09/08/2025

Respondent: Mrs Samantha Clarke

Legally compliant? Yes

Sound? No

Duty to co-operate? Yes

Representation Summary:

The area is already flooded with traffic. It is a nightmare to try and travel during rush hour, especially anywhere near a school. Further addition of this many houses will make the pollution worse as well as the mental health issues associated with the stress of trying to travel.

Respondent: Mrs Samantha Clarke

Representation Summary:

We already have one local GP surgery closing. We are unable to register any new person to any GP in the area. On average it takes over 2 weeks to get to see a GP. This level of housing will make getting an appointment with a GP completely impossible. This is already a substantial issue. Exactly the same problem with dentists

Representation Summary:

I do not understand how the policy can support the transition to net zero carbon by 2050 with such a large amount of additional cars on the road as a result of such a huge development of houses.

Respondent: Mrs Samantha Clarke

Legally compliant? Yes

Sound? No

Duty to co-operate? No

Representation Summary:

How can Medway be a healthy place to live, with high pollution from traffic, a reduction of greenspaces and a lack of infrastructure in terms of medical and dental facilities? Just the mental health strain on prolonged construction of such a large housing development will cause problems

Legally compliant? No

Representation Summary:

Whilst we fully understand the need for additional housing, using greenbelt land to build on is not correct. I also question how greenbelt land can suddenly be considered in this instance, as this is meant to be being protected across the UK. There are many other areas of disused land across Medway that could be considered instead of turning good quality greenbelt land into a housing development
