Medway Local Plan (Regulation 19, 2025)

Vision for Access and Movement in Medway

Representation ID: 5008

Received: 11/08/2025

Respondent: Mrs Pamela Donoghue-Freeburn

Legally compliant? Yes

Sound? No

Duty to co-operate? No

Representation Summary:

The increased housing without improving road infrastructure will have significant negative impact on the people of Medway. The roads, particularly in Strood, are often clogged and journeys around the towns are difficult. The suggestion that short journeys can be reduced is not backed up by evidence. The idea that people will walk to Asda or to Aldi, for example, from the site off Brompton Farm Road is ludicrous. It is a thirty minute walk each way and the journey back would be uphill. This would be impossible for some elderly residents, or those short of time.
