It is vital that new homes support independent living, digital inclusion for future care needs. Technology-compliant homes should:
• Be equipped with reliable broadband infrastructure.
• Include design features that support assistive technologies (e.g. fall sensors, smart environmental controls).
This will:
• Improve quality of life for older adults and people with disabilities.
• Reduce pressure on health and social care services.
• Align with national strategies for digital inclusion and smart living.
Suggested Addition:
“All new residential developments must be designed to be technology compliant, including provision for digital connectivity, assistive technology integration, and adaptability for future care needs.”
