The existing pollution of our rivers and estuaries is a national disgrace. The plan needs to demonstrate how the scale of development proposed in the local plan can be accommodated and at the same time provide the necessary infrastructure to eliminate pollution.

There is nothing in this Vision Statement that relates to the need for improvements at M2 junction 4. This would be a minimum requirement for any further development in the Capstone Valley.

This plan is incredibly vague as to how the major housing allocations would connect to the existing highway and public transport corridors. The sites have very poor/non existent access to the rail network.

There needs to be a proper delivery plan for the secondary school. There is an urgent need for more secondary school places in the short term.

There has been no assessment of the ecology of the area particularly the new allocations in the area. For example this area is one of the last strongholds of the red list Sky Lark and other ground nesting species- Darland Farm on its own does not provide and adequate mitigation of the collective damage done by the various housing allocations in the Capstone Valley

It seems very unlikely that it will be appropriate for the new Orbital bus service to be routed via M2 junction 4. Maidstone Road would seem the obvious connection. The concept plan is incredibly vague, there are no street names or indication as to how the major new housing allocations will be connected to the existing highway network. The Transport impact of the development on M2 junction 4 and A278/Sharsted Way in particular are untested. There is no detail of necessary infrastructure improvements.
