Great that the council wants people to be at the centre of decisions. Sadly, your decision to build over Capstone and surrounding countryside does not show that you support people’s decisions because we objected to this and you ignored it.

The environment is essential, but you keep ruining it by building over the countryside and taking away our countryside and green spaces. To build on the area known as the “green lung of Medway” is the worst decision you could have made for Medway and now it’s too late.

I support it, but it’s too late!
You have granted access for HUGE areas of countryside to be built on, which should have been preserved for the wellbeing of the local population.
What is the point in ruining huge swathes of countryside that were good for people’s wellbeing, to replace them with huge housing estates with a few cycle and pedestrian paths, when we were using them before - without the noise, pollution, rubbish etc that comes with such housing developments.
Why aren’t you creating new woodland and preserving the remaining areas that we all lived? You have ruined it

I support the vision, BUT you are currently obliterating the natural areas we have by building ugly housing all over the natural areas.
How will you create new natural areas when you have replaced the natural spaces that already existed with more housing.
You are ruining the countryside that was treasured by all in Lordswood, and governments are equally reponsible for our loss of nature.
We don’t have a lack of housing. We have overspill from London. The local people lose the nature they had to compensate for the need for housing for people moving from London.

I support the vision, but what about the area from Capstone to Lidsing?
This is green land that you are killing. Beautiful rolling hills of the North Downs, a leisure area for locals who live either side of it, whether Chatham, Walderslade, Lordswood, Hempstead.
This area has some of the best air quality in the Medway towns and people use it for the health and wellbeing.
You are killing it by building over it, killing our green spaces.

Legally compliant? No
Sound? No
Duty to co-operate? No
The area around Capstone should never be built on. It is will change the original character of Medway forever. People use this area for their health and wellbeing, whether for walks, bike rides, playing. It has the cleanest air in Medway, it allows us to breathe. With its rolling hills and beautiful countryside, it is the only place left that retains the original character of Medway. By building on it, you are killing the lung of Medway, the natural heart of the towns, and filling what’s left with urban sprawl. You have made the wrong decision to build here.

I support this, as Hoo area is a better area to extend the Medway towns, and it is closer to London for those who wish to commute.
Whilst I lament the loss of countryside, the countryside here is flat and has little character compared to the hilly areas of Medway. It makes more sense to build on this flat, dull land.
