It's particularly galling when the wrong type of housing is provided - high rise developments with high service charges are not the right kind of property for young families but they are the kind that attract property investors - who incidentally always start out with lovely developments but start adding floors and squeezing open spaces to make money. It would be reassuring to know that they won't be allowed to get away with it.
Construction jobs are temporary - what we really need are jobs generated by a thriving university and research sector.
