Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2024)

Representation ID: 3665

Received: 08/09/2024

Respondent: Miss Rachael Selleck

Representation Summary:

Medway's landscape is under significant pressure from urbanisation, development, and climate change, which threaten its distinctiveness and biodiversity. The Council recognises these issues, highlighting the negative impacts of development, including habitat fragmentation and loss of inter-tidal areas. However, the planned development in Allhallows contradicts this recognition. Building in this area will exacerbate these issues by contributing to habitat loss, increased urban pressures, and further fragmentation of the landscape. If the Council truly values landscape distinctiveness and aims to mitigate climate change effects, their actions should reflect these priorities. Instead, the current plans undermine the very principles they claim to uphold.
