Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2023)

Representation ID: 1637

Received: 31/10/2023

Respondent: Mr Roger Brown

Representation Summary:

The overdevelopment of certain areas such as the Hoo Peninsula have shown that bad, unbalanced building of dormitory suburbs for London’s workers has never boosted pride in Medway. It only provides a larger pool of service users with little interest in supporting local communities.

Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2023)

Representation ID: 1705

Received: 31/10/2023

Respondent: Mr Rupert Turpin

Representation Summary:

Develop Strood Waterfront, and also allow local people to access the historic dockyards which are kept behind a paywall. Do NOT allow Chatham docks to be turned into flats and therefore the jobs there can be saved. Listen to businesses and avoid the council’s over inflated and ego boosting trips to turn the towns into a city. Medway is a river first, local authority second ( only as short history) and should not become co-terminus with a city, as the boundaries of Medway are bound to be reorganised.

Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2023)

Representation ID: 1737

Received: 31/10/2023

Respondent: Mr Trevor East

Representation Summary:

Any development should consider what additional infrastructure is required, including GP surgeries, schools, public transport access and shops. Too many new developments have none of these and residents become car dependent, in turn negating the possibility for Medway's green future.
We should also take pride in the greenspace we have as opposed to wanting to build on it. If a developer is waiting to make a profit on a brownfield site, can we fine them or purchase the land in turn either developing the site or using it for other "green" initiatives or sports sites.

Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2023)

Representation ID: 1748

Received: 31/10/2023

Respondent: Phillip Ivory

Representation Summary:

I support this approach. Infrastructure must be in place first, however the funding needs to be secured through the applications. You can only deliver infrastructure first for large scale schemes- will the council be proposing any?
High quality- quality engineering is prevalent in the construction industry due to non material amendments. We need to have policies that dictate a design code therefore providing planning officers with the ability to object on policy grounds to the lowering of quality/ design.
