Any development within Capstone/Hempstead will mean traffic for the M2 will have to go through Hempstead an already built up area with roads not designed for large volumes of traffic. Alterations to Junction 4 will not alter the fact all traffic wishing to join the M2 will have to go through Hempstead to join the A 278 to access the M2.

the Lidsing Development in Maidstone's Local Plan provides for improvements to Junction 4 that would benefit other developments in this area.

I see no mention of improvements to J3. Any improvement to J4 will only feed into the case for Lidsing Garden being approved, to the detriment of the Medway Towns. We desperately need more rail capacity. The Medway towns are a huge commuter area. Building houses further and further from the railway line just encourages more car use. I live in Lordswood, and public transport is dire for just about anything. It’s expensive, takes forever, and doesn’t go to where you want it to go. It takes half a day to get Rainham and back.

Which is another reason why having hundreds of new dwelling squashed into the Capstone Valley and Lidsing is a disastrous idea

I agree, traffic and Air quality is terrible in these areas and would only be exacerbated with further development

Having distribution facilities close to Motorways may make more sense than at the end of a peninsula of land.

The knock-on impact of additional housing in this area would be greatly disadvantageous to local traffic and residents.

Assuming we are doing a long-term plan, please look at the potential long terms benefits as we switch to EV and similar technologies combined with better public Transport and how that will modify air quality but also change perceptions of where folks want to live.

It is more than a risk. It is a certainty that major development in these suburban locations would generate further dependencies on car based travel adding to congestion and pollution

This is the most likely outcome if development is based on landowners’ greed for profit rather than a consideration of people’s needs and the creation of a healthy social community.

This requires a detailed consultation by experts just as has been done already with the Hoo peninsula, although we were not allowed to see the results of that one!!
