The King Charles III England Coast Path is a new National Trail that will pass around the entire English coastline, securing access rights for the public that provide opportunities for outdoor recreation and active travel. The trail will provide public health benefits and attract visitors to the region, which can boost coastal economies and communities, but if the benefits are to maximised, planning policy must support the trail in accordance with the NPPF. It is therefore requested that the Medway Local Plan includes a policy stipulating that new development will only be approved whereby the Trail is protected and enhanced.
