Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2023)

The plan's vision is to

Representation ID: 435

Received: 06/10/2023

Respondent: Mrs Jan Sellings

Representation Summary:

Deterioration in society, not safe to be in local area, nothing available to address any needs.

Full text:

A thriving economy needs to be available to all. I've had a good education, worked hard (for the public sector) and, with all my qualifications and experience, still only get paid just above minimum wage. There isn't much that is available to my family.
I agree with addressing climate change but would never be able to afford an electric car and the buses are too expensive and don't go to the places that I need to reach or at the time I need to go there.
My quality of life has deteriorated rapidly over the years - partly because of my deplorable wages but also because of the unavailability of shops, doctors or any help at all. My local high street has just about become a no-go area, with people shouting and swearing and openly dealing drugs.

Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2023)

Supporting people to lead healthy lives and strengthening our communities

Representation ID: 437

Received: 06/10/2023

Respondent: Mrs Jan Sellings

Representation Summary:

Antisocial behaviour shouldn't be acceptable. People should be able to continue living a safe, stress free life when trying to relax at home. More housing so that people live on top of each other creates more problems.

Full text:

Regarding the house building for all ages - we have been in our house for 35 years and are feeling as if we're being pushed out. This is because neighbours are dying or moving out of the area and houses are being rented to multi tenants who have no consideration to others. It's now noisy and we have the police visiting, which has never happened before. We used to all be friendly and look out for each other. We now don't feel safe or relaxed and have no options to either move or do our own house up - work six days a week just to pay bills so can't afford to do our house up, which is falling apart.

Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2023)

5.3

Representation ID: 440

Received: 06/10/2023

Respondent: Mrs Jan Sellings

Representation Summary:

There is no room in our infrastructure for this many houses and this many people.

Full text:

Can you imagine 28.500 more families in Medway. Our gridlocked roads will be impassable, nobody will ever get a doctor's appt. or a bed in a hospital. The children won't be able to go to school and nobody will ever be able to enjoy themselves as everything will be full up immediately, either with the elite few or those on benefits. The hardworking low paid people (who aren't entitled to anything) will be shut out again.
When will the point of small our country is - and how overpopulated ever be taken into account? I always thought the world would advance, not sink back into struggling to survive.
