This section talks about how we are a economic player in the area, this is not in line with the fact that the Chatham Docks are one of the areas for future development. The businesses within Chatham Docks currently turn over around 250million pounds a year and if this is shut this income will be lost and jobs will be lost. It is essential that we have jobs available for our residents and by taking away commercial businesses this is not in line with this statement.

By shutting the Chatham docks, which is currently classified as commercial space, this would not foster local jobs this would remove jobs and also remove 250million of local turnover which is a big boost to the local economy. Shutting the docks would be in direct conflict with with building on engineering and energy industries in the area, which the dock is involved in. Shutting the docks would not develop jobs of the future it would remove them along with the infrastructure. To help create future spaces ArcelorMittal have proposed they could buy the dock and invest in its future.

It is essential that the council does not change the land use designation of Chatham docks, in line with previous plans to ensure the businesses within Chatham docks can stay and the area can benefit from jobs and the local turnover of 250million pounds.

This is not in line with local jobs, the businesses turn over 250million pounds in the Chatham docks and this will benefit only the shareholders (peel ports) that own the land and will not help local jobs and local turnover, losing the docks is not in the best interests of the local people and we will lose from the area the opportunity for high skilled jobs with an in the docks instance an average salary of 40k. Jobs to construct houses is not a long term income, once the houses are built, jobs disappear.

This is in direct conflict with the fact that Chatham Docks has been included as a potential area for housing, as if the docks land use was re allocated and turned into houses we would lose this land which is already thriving. Don`t get rid of this site as it will not boost jobs and will not support local jobs!
