AONB development of a £30m Foster-designed winery at Upper Bush in Cuxton has been rejected by both the planning committee and the planning inspectorate as inappropriate. How can releasing this area for housing therefore be considered appropriate for an AONB? This area should not be considered as part of Medway's housing plan.

The map of green belt release sites shows areas in Cuxton at Upper Bush and Wingate Woods. Wingate Woods is also part of a SSSI and is totally inaccessible. The site at Upper Bush has recently been the subject of an appeal to uphold a £30m winery development, that was rejected by the Planning Inspectorate because of its adverse effect on the surrounding AONB. Other areas in Halling serve the purpose of separating Lower Halling from both Upper and North Halling. Release of these areas for housing would negate both local and national policies for protection of such areas.
