Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2023)

Prepared for a sustainable and green future

Representation ID: 1318

Received: 31/10/2023

Respondent: Mrs Claire Friday

Representation Summary:

I’m extremely disappointed that these areas for proposed development are greenfield sites when there are so many unused brownfield sites that should be prioritised developing first. I understand that it’s more expensive and it’s easier to build multiple homes all in one site and on greenspace but once this land is built on, it will never be able to come back in this area. Medway doesn’t cope at peak times for traffic already - particularly getting in and out of Hempstead and through Rainham/ A2 and M2. More houses in this area shouldn’t be allowed to happen.

Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2023)

Securing jobs and developing skills for a competitive economy

Representation ID: 1321

Received: 31/10/2023

Respondent: Mrs Claire Friday

Representation Summary:

Building new unaffordable homes doesn’t develop skills for a competitive economy. More needs to be done to improve the quality of life and surrounding of the already existing deprived areas in the Medway Towns and getting unemployment rates down.

Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2023)

Boost pride in Medway through quality and resilient development

Representation ID: 1323

Received: 31/10/2023

Respondent: Mrs Claire Friday

Representation Summary:

Where in this plan are the proposals to develop brownfield sites or to improve housing that exists but is below standards. That would improve areas within Medway and boost pride. There are some areas which historically weren’t considered to be dangerous or poverty stricken areas but now are. I understand it won’t happen overnight, but some of these areas need to be targeted and improved.
