By pushing these maritime businesses out, we will lose some of the industry that defined Chatham's past and that adds context for its future. One lost, it would be impossible to recreate the working docks elsewhere in Medway and we would lose the chance to build on low carbon marine transport.

I think it is dubious to say that "Medway" has been successful at transforming these sites. Much of the work on St Mary's Island was done before Medway Council existed. The newer developments such as Chatham Waters and Victory Pier are less visionary and very dense. The development of Rochester Riverside has been very slow.
