The promotion of plant based diets amd increased physical activity is needed to prevent additional strain on medical services as the population ages. Alternative marketing options to be explored that encourage sustainable active lifestyles rather than chastising people for choosing unhealthy options as this makes them want to don't more often.

Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2023)
Boost pride in Medway through quality and resilient development
Representation ID: 1737
Received: 31/10/2023
Respondent: Mr Trevor East
Any development should consider what additional infrastructure is required, including GP surgeries, schools, public transport access and shops. Too many new developments have none of these and residents become car dependent, in turn negating the possibility for Medway's green future.
We should also take pride in the greenspace we have as opposed to wanting to build on it. If a developer is waiting to make a profit on a brownfield site, can we fine them or purchase the land in turn either developing the site or using it for other "green" initiatives or sports sites.

Maintaining the greenbelt area is key. It is why many people choose to live in Medway and it is a valuable asset which could lend itself to more sustainable tourism options (but not processing plants ot informatuin sites for vineyards.
Encourage residents to learn more about their surroundings, the history or the local area and how we have lived symbiotically with the natural environment.

There are plenty of sites that can be developed on without impacting on Medway's greenbelt. In fact, the fact we have access to the greenbelt should be our unique selling point rather than an option to build on.
