Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2024)

Policy T3: Affordable Housing

Representation ID: 2905

Received: 06/09/2024

Respondent: Mrs pat cooper

Representation Summary:

10 or more units affordable housing . What percentage if just 10?
Didn't we have issues with the Victory Pier development over the change in position from providing a percentage of affordable housing, then changing their minds in nearly finish build. Also re Section 106 on a development . Should be as close to where the build is to take place as far as possible. What redress is there for those developers who do not fulfil their Section 106 obligations?
Housing for Looked After children, more residential ? Smaller homes for two or three children as well.

Student accommodation is heavy in Gillingham near the Uni's .Liberty Living accommodates some, but not enough and many properties in Gillingham have in them which takes away opportunities for families to live in them. As written .
Purpose built accommodation would help, but where built? A suitable brownfield site

Vision for Access and Movement in Medway

Representation ID: 2950

Received: 06/09/2024

Respondent: Mrs pat cooper

Representation Summary:

I really have to disagree with E Scooters being credible forms of transport.
In some persons hands they are an absolute menace. Even trials of these have proved that they can be anything but credible.
Are they not illegal if not licenced ?
Tell that to the older people who have been injured by reckless driving . They are dangerous and the lithium batteries have ignited and caused fires.I think the wording of this is wrong.
Electric buses ?????

Policy DM16: Chatham Waters Line

Representation ID: 2975

Received: 06/09/2024

Respondent: Mrs pat cooper

Representation Summary:

I really hope this comes to fruition now. We did not get the levelling up fund and it was hugely disappointing.
Point to note. This development is adjacent to Hillyfields Community Park . I have had to advise Greenspaces and our Cllrs and shown phots of , and been visited by Cllr [REDACTED] to the area. The metal fencing was severely damaged, there was a huge fire of the vegetation and the area was open to the drop down onto the disused rail line below. This rail line is open to vandalism and ASB .

Policy T27: Reducing Health Inequalities and Supporting Health and Wellbeing

Representation ID: 3004

Received: 06/09/2024

Respondent: Mrs pat cooper

Representation Summary:

I cant see anything written here about persons in wheelchairs of mobility scooters( not the E ones) Walking and Cycling are advertised ad nauseum, but nothing about disabled people who like to get out in their wheelchair or mobility scooter. ( admitted they can be a bit difficult sometimes). Getting out the house might be the only time they ,manage to see someone . This is good for their mental health .:Pavements can be difficult to navigate .It just says different abilities. Provision needs to be accessible. Young people in their lunch hour head straight for the junk food outlet.

Vision for Access and Movement in Medway

Representation ID: 4162

Received: 06/09/2024

Respondent: Mrs pat cooper

Representation Summary:

In another document in this I pIanI note that E Scooters are recommended as Transport. Not for the High st.

Full text:

Gillingham Town Centre is now definitely included in the upcoming Local Plan, and the recent" Big Day Out" event showed just what Gillingham has to offer. However in the past it has been largely left behind in the development stakes. Wilko store is a large empty store, situated on a prime site open to vandalism. Banks closing do not help. For a high st including residents, there must be retail that attracts people to live and want to shop there. In another document in this I pIanI note that E Scooters are recommended as Transport. Not for the High st.
