With the envisaged growth on the Hoo Peninsula, retail outlets are needed desperately. Medway Council should ensure that providers of residential developments should be made to incorporate this into their plans.

Policy DM17: Grain Branch
Representation ID: 3090
Received: 07/09/2024
Respondent: St James, Isle of Grain, Parish Council
It is important that the proposal to create a station a Sharnal Street is implemented urgently because train accessibility for journeys to London or the coast are poor for people with limited transport.
Whilst a passenger service extending to Grain sounds a good idea, the geography and geology of the area will not sustain this and people will still use their own transport.

The import/export of sand and gravel can be done via rail depot at Grain but a large proportion is transported by lorries adding to pollution, road damage and, at times, congestion.
It is imperative that all - or at least the majority of movements - be done by train.
