Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2024)
Policy T12: Learning and Skills Development
Representation ID: 3395
Received: 08/09/2024

It is very difficult to get a place in schools when moving between term times - with almost no choice . I also would like to see Medway put a stop to the bussing in of children from other boroughs (Lewisham, Stratford, Croydon and North London)to take our Grammar and Academy places. It has wider implications on the community when school children in secondary years have friends that live eight miles down the motorway and cannot hang out with local friends. Why are they allowed to do this and can our Medway Children get places in London Academies?

Please, please, please, more courses for the creative digital industries especially for the teenagers who are so passionate about making their careers in these fields. there are no possibilities to do extra curricular lessons in coding , game design , animation , graphics which should be taught in my opinion from the age of 11 .We need a specific facility for this .

Could Medway concentrate on turning the floors above the Chatham High Street shops into suitable housing as a priority? Perhaps using innovative ideas for access so that we can showcase a new modern shopping/living model for many High Streets that are struggling across the country .

Policy S16: Hierarchy of Centres
Representation ID: 3417

It would be nice to see more facilities for sport and play in our town centres . Gaming facilities, climbing walls, zip wires , circus skills, comedy should become part of the town centre offering during the day .Perhaps a street food market ? Medway recently refurbished an area in front of the pentagon (very poorly in my opinion ) and an ideal opportunity to bring vibrancy to this area was totally wasted . When we shop many of us come with small children so some play facilities for them should be provided as seen at Westfield Stratford.

Please, do not allow any supermarket chains onto Rochester high Street, they bring division and car traffic. We have a co Op behind the Station and many facilities a short walk across the bridge. Rochester high Street is a rare shopping space with its individual unique shops - especially the charity shops which bring people from far and wide . Recycling of clothes will be come far more mainstream in the future and Medway has a rich selection of charity shops that will become more important as people find most of their wages spent on housing , energy and tech.

I never shop in Gillingham High Street , l find it an unwelcoming and frankly depressing high street probably down to the roads that cross it and run through it . It needs to be made more "shopper friendly"

Strood is becoming an excellent place to shop mainly in the retail park but needs more improvement on the actual high street - mostly restrained because of the through traffic which destroys any ambiance possible
