Policy DM1: Flood and Water Management
Representation ID: 3130
Received: 07/09/2024

This policy could be simplified to state: "No development will be allowed on any natural Flood Plain. No new development will be allowed in any area which does not have waste water infrastructure capable of handling the existing development."

Policy DM3: Air Quality
Representation ID: 3150
Received: 07/09/2024
Respondent: Mr Roger Brown
Good air quality is fully dependant upon removing fossil fuels. No new development, both housing and industrial, should be allowed unless:
* all roofs are used to the full for the installation of PV solar panels
* fossil fuel boilers can only be fitted where NO OTHER ALTERNATIVE IS POSSIBLE
* When Passiv Haus standards are not reached, housing developers agree to provide funds to the Local Authority to improve insulation in existing properties

Policy DM5: Housing Design

Cameron's "Bonfire of regulations" (see the Grenfell Report) has turned housing development into the wild west. Until Building Regulations are restored to pre-1980s levels, decent housing will continue to be solely for the richer members of society.

Policy T5: Student Accommodation
Representation ID: 3169
Received: 07/09/2024
Respondent: Mr Roger Brown
Currently student housing has virtually no decent regulations. Until building regulations are restored there is little chance of student housing providing a high quality living environment.

Policy T3: Affordable Housing
Representation ID: 3179
Received: 07/09/2024
Respondent: Mr Roger Brown
Housing cannot be deemed "affordable" unless a mortgage on a property can be afforded by people on the average household income of local residents. On that criteria there is no affordable housing available locally, thus exposing the hypocrisy of the term: "affordable".
There is a clear need for a massive increase in Social Housing or, better still, Council Housing.

Policy S22: Hoo Peninsula
Representation ID: 3214
Received: 07/09/2024
Respondent: Mr Roger Brown
It is manifest that the Hoo Peninsula has been asked to absorb a much greater number of the demanded new housing developments than other rural areas of Medway. This needs to be addressed urgently before the label Rural Wards becomes a misnomer.

Vision for Access and Movement in Medway
Representation ID: 3231
Received: 07/09/2024
Respondent: Mr Roger Brown
Until a proper footpath/cycleway is built to modern standards between Cliffe and Mockbeggar Farm there will be little reduction in car use on the B2000. Currently there is no pedestrian link between Cliffe Village, Cliffe Woods (now larger than Cliffe) and Mockbeggar. Many people in the enlarged villages could walk or cycle to Strood station.
