New searchAs acknowledged within the Draft Hoo Development Framework the Hoo Peninsula is of long-standing strategic importance, particularly for energy infrastructure. Its estuarine location and relative remoteness have supported the development of wharves and power plants, of regional and national significance for energy. The area remains important for energy supply and transportation, there are a number of infrastructure and utility services in the area, including SSE Medway Power Station that should be protected from constraining development. Whilst the Peninsula is in yet another phase of change we would seek for any development in Hoo to not constrict the nationally significant SSE Thermal energy infrastructure on the Hoo Peninsula, and any future development should be managed to secure its future.
